Wilmington Montessori School Mourns the Loss of Graduate Nate Henn

WMS joins the larger community in mourning the loss of Nate Henn, who was killed in a terror attack on World Cup soccer fans in Uganda on Sunday. Nate was in Uganda as part of his work with Invisible Children, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about the use of child soldiers in Africa.

Nate graduated from 6th grade at Wilmington Montessori School in 1997.  Former WMS Head of School Marie Dugan notes “Nate Henn lived a life of love and service. I am proud of him for his dedication to Invisible Children, as an advocate for child soldiers. I am sending my love and prayers to the entire Henn family. They have been part of the WMS family for many years, helped us during the time of our move to the new building, and embraced Montessori education. Nate spoke at the funeral of his beloved teacher, Helen Gadsby. We were all in tears from his beautiful tribute to Helen. Now, I will think of him as ‘The Strong One-Oteka’, a citizen of the world.”

Nate’s family has established a website (http://www.natehenn.com/) to provide additional information on Nate’s work and life.

Nate's obituary with memorial service information is posted on Delaware Online here.
